Formula 1 took a step towards Net Zero status in 2030

Formula 1 took a step towards Net Zero status in 2030

In five years, Formula 1 aims to achieve Net Zero status, reaffirming its commitment to reducing CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions. The annual report states a 26% reduction in emissions, equivalent to 168,720 tons of CO2 compared to 228,793 tons the previous year.

After some race dates were changed in the calendar, they are now grouped by regions, helping to reduce long-haul flights. Combined with the increasing use of wind and solar energy by teams, as well as biofuel use in freight transport in Europe, which cuts emissions by 83%, this supports Formula 1 in reaching its goal.

Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1: “We are proud of what we have already achieved and remain committed to continuing in this direction.

Formula 1 has always been synonymous with innovation and a drive for perfection. Once again, this mindset has enabled us to make significant progress not only for those working in this world but also for society as a whole.”
