Oliver Berman: I try to learn from my partner.
Like many racers, Oliver Berman has special memories linked to the Spa circuit: three years ago, he achieved his first Formula 3 victory there. He won the Saturday sprint race, and now he is set to participate at this classic racing track for the first time in Formula 1.
Oliver Berman: "I had a great time between the Silverstone and Spa rounds, including participating in the Goodwood Speed Festival. After that, I took a well-deserved rest, as I needed to recover and prepare for the two remaining races before the summer break.
I am very happy to return to Spa because I have good memories associated with this amazing track – it’s where I scored my first Formula 3 win. Moreover, it has such a rich history, and I’m already looking forward to finding the right approach when driving a Formula 1 car there.
In Goodwood, with Esteban Ocon, my teammate, we shared experiences on how to do "donuts," although generally in Formula 1, that’s not recommended. Of course, on the track, we push each other, and I’m most impressed by how Esteban races: he always shows excellent pace, and I try to learn from him.
The weekend at Silverstone left mixed feelings. We had a great qualifying session, and the technical package we introduced at the British round worked exactly as we planned, but the race didn’t go as well. The result doesn’t reflect our car’s potential, and during the break between races, it was important to objectively analyze everything, including our own work.
I hope that this weekend in Spa, we will be able to fully realize the potential that showed signs during the previous round."
