Pierre Gasly will not start in the sprint.

Pierre Gasly had a strong qualifying for the sprint, finishing eighth, but during a check of the car in the sprint starting grid, the mechanics discovered a leak that could not be fixed on the spot. The car was pushed back to the garages, where efforts to repair it were made but not completed in time.

"Pierre will not be able to start in today's Belgian Grand Prix sprint due to a suspected water leak in his car. The team will try to resolve the issue as soon as possible," the team announced before the sprint.

Another Alpine driver, Franco Colapinto, will start from the pit lane due to a breach of the closed park conditions.
