Several interesting statistical facts about the Belgian Grand Prix...
Qualifying
Having won the qualifying at Spa, Lando Norris secured his fourth pole position of the season and 13th in his career. The same number of poles has been achieved by Jacques Villeneuve, Jaki Ix, Juan Pablo Montoya, Mark Webber, Graham Hill, and Jack Brabham.
Norris's pole is the 12th for McLaren at Spa. This is McLaren's first pole at Spa since 2012, when Jenson Button won the race starting from pole.
Oscar Piastri qualified second, marking the 69th time in McLaren's history that the team took the entire front row. It is the Australian's seventh consecutive top-three starting position.
By qualifying third, Charles Leclerc started in the top three for the fourth time this year.
Max Verstappen qualified fourth, which is his highest starting position since 2021 – at Spa, his car always had power unit changes, and he received penalties for losing grid positions for three consecutive years.
Alex Albon's fifth place is the best result for Williams this season and repeats his best result at Spa – in 2020, driving for Red Bull Racing, he also finished fifth.
George Russell, for the second consecutive year, started in Spa sixth.
Yuki Tsunoda, in his 110th Grand Prix, qualified seventh – his highest result at Spa.
Ocon finished 11th – Haas F1’s best result at Spa since 2019.
Nico Hülkenberg finished 14th – his best Spa result since 2019, when he raced for Renault. Nico remains the only driver to have participated in all races this year without reaching the qualifying final.
Race
Winning the Belgian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri earned his eighth career victory and sixth of the season. Three current drivers have eight Grand Prix wins in their careers – Piastri, Norris, and Leclerc.
Oscar continued his successful streak by scoring points in the 31st consecutive race. This series is the third-longest in Formula 1 history, after 48 consecutive points finishes by Hamilton and 43 by Verstappen.
Six wins in a single season – the best result for Australians in Formula 1 history.
Lando Norris finished second, earning his 37th career podium. Ricciardo Patrese also has 37 podiums. This is Norris’s first top-four finish at Spa.
The McLaren 1-2 at Spa is the sixth in this season. McLaren has achieved only more 1-2s (10) in 1988, when Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna raced for the team. This is McLaren’s 55th victorious 1-2 finish in history.
Charles Leclerc, racing for Ferrari, finished third at Spa for the second consecutive year.
Max Verstappen, driving for Red Bull, finished fourth at Spa for the second year in a row. In the last six Grands Prix, Max has only once been on the podium, in Canada.
George Russell from Mercedes finished fifth; after his win in Canada, he has not climbed higher than fifth.
Finishing ninth, Gabriele Bortoleto scored points for the second time this season. These are Sauber's first points at Spa since 2018, when Marcus Ericsson finished tenth.
Oliver Berman finished 11th for the fourth consecutive race.
19th place at the finish was Franco Colapinto’s worst result of the season.
This is the second race this season, after the Japanese Grand Prix, where all starters finished the race.
