Helmut Marco: Toto fueled rumors about Max's departure.
Recently, Helmut Marko confirmed that Max Verstappen will continue to race for Red Bull Racing in 2026. In a recent interview, the Red Bull motorsport consultant stated that the reigning world champion had no reason to leave the team before the technical regulations change, and that the rumors were fueled by Toto Wolff.
Helmut Marko: "Lately, all these rumors have started to irritate! For some reason, everyone thought they knew better how the clause about early contract termination sounded. All of this was partly fueled by Toto. But it was clear to me that leaving Max before 2026 would be pointless.
Next year, everyone will start with a clean slate, and no one knows who will have the best engine or chassis. There are many parameters where things can go wrong. If I were Verstappen, I would first look at the balance of power and then make a decision."
When asked if the talks about Verstappen leaving next year would continue, Marko replied: "I hope not. Because we expect to be among the front runners again next year with Max."
