Hungary Grand Prix: Powertrain Components
During the season, teams can use up to four Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), turbines, MGU-H, and MGU-K without penalty, and two energy storages and electronic control units. Installing a first element of the power unit beyond these limits results in a 10-position grid penalty. Installing a second or subsequent elements causes a five-position penalty. If the penalty exceeds 15 positions, the driver starts from the last row. When multiple drivers receive such penalties, their starting positions depend on their qualifying results. Exhaust system replacements (EX) are also limited—only eight can be used per season, with additional changes incurring the same penalty. The FIA has published a list of power unit components installed on cars before the Hungaroring weekend, but replacements are possible today.
