Zak Brown is glad Horner was fired.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown does not hide his satisfaction that Christian Horner has been dismissed from Red Bull and believes that F1 will become less political without him.
Zak Brown: "I'm glad that Laurent Mekies is now leading Red Bull. I hope it will be good for the sport, and that we can get back to racing battles.
There are always political aspects in our sport. "Let's try to ban them from using flexible wings" and the like, but when you start making unfounded accusations, that's going too far.
If I look around the paddock now, I see rivals with whom we compete not only on the track but also politically, but we don't cross the line, although we have crossed it in the past.
I believe that with Laurent's appointment, we'll see positive changes. Trust levels are higher now, and if we sit down and discuss issues that we believe should be confidential, they won't become political weapons against us.
We will become more united, and besides racing, we can also discuss what is beneficial to the sport. And these issues won't be manipulated for political reasons or taken out of context.
I think Horner will return. He's young, he's a driver, and he has an excellent résumé. But I look forward to competing with Red Bull, just as we do with Ferrari and Mercedes. For the good of the sport, it's important that we all work together."
