The Formula 1 quarterly revenue exceeded $1 billion.
Liberty Media, the owner of Formula 1, published its financial results for the second quarter of 2025. Compared to the same period last year, Formula 1's revenue increased by 35% to $1.34 billion. Of this amount, $1.03 billion was from "Core Formula 1 revenues," which include promoter contributions, payments from broadcasters and sponsors. In comparison, the second quarter of 2024 saw this figure at $739 million. Partly, the growth was driven by holding more races – nine from April to June 2025 versus eight in the same period in 2024. Other income increased from $132 million to $194 million. This was made possible by the release of the global film F1 The Movie, revenue from leasing real estate in Las Vegas, and increased ticket sales. Formula 1's operating pre-tax profit rose to $369 million from $165 million a year earlier. In the second quarter of 2025, Formula 1 paid out $513 million to all teams in prize money compared to $435 million the previous year. Total team payouts in 2025 reached $635 million. Operating expenses also increased due to several factors, including higher transportation costs related to changes in race scheduling, higher commissions and partner servicing expenses, increased Paddock Club costs due to higher attendance, increased expenses for servicing new sponsors, higher costs for F1 TV service due to a growing subscriber base, and expenses related to hosting the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Liberty Media also confirmed that the deal to acquire MotoGP was closed on July 3. MotoGP is now part of the Formula One Group, and its revenue will be reflected in the company's reports starting from the third quarter.
