Zak Brown: Oscar and Lando have equal opportunities.

There are ten races remaining in the season, but only Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are truly competing for the title. McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown assured that both drivers have equal opportunities in the fight for the championship at the end of the season.

“When it comes to a battle between teammates for the championship, each has their own perspective,” Zak Brown wrote in a message to fans. “Some moments can be critical, so it's important to clarify a few details.

First of all, I already mentioned this before, but I sincerely believe that we have the best driver lineup in Formula 1, and I wouldn’t trade it for any other.

Secondly, when two drivers compete for the title, it creates great excitement, and we share that excitement. There’s nothing better than watching our guys fight. So let the strongest win.

Of course, we acknowledge that incidents have happened and will happen again. It all depends on how well you are prepared for such moments and how you handle them. I think the Montreal incident was a vivid example of how we all managed the situation.

We understand the risks involved in not betting on a single driver. We give Oscar and Lando equal opportunities to compete for victory in the championship on the track.

The situation is very exciting for us and the entire sport. We are confident that the benefits of this approach to racing outweigh the consequences, although we know incidents can occur. I am not naive.

Adrenaline and pressure will build, but the team will continue to work cohesively and handle emerging issues. The end of the season promises to be fantastic. I look forward to returning to the track after the summer break.”
