Rumors: Horner and Perez may meet again in Cadillac F1

When Red Bull suspended Christian Horner from his duties, and then even terminated the contract with the former head of their team, many speculated that he would return to Formula 1.

Auto Motor und Sport writes that the 51-year-old British manager, with 20 years’ experience at one of the championship’s top teams, could be useful to Cadillac F1.

Earlier there had been rumours that Alpine and Ferrari might be interested in Horner’s services, but the theory put forward by the German publication seems more logical.

Although the new team formally has a leader, Graham Loudon, Horner could allegedly take his place, while Loudon would move to another position. The management of General Motors’ factory project understands that especially at the initial stage such a responsible post is better entrusted to the most experienced professional with a track record of success. Horner has that, whereas Loudon cannot boast of it.

Another plus for this scenario is Horner’s long-standing business relationship with Sergio Pérez, whose contract with Cadillac is considered almost a done deal. Christian really knows the Mexican driver’s capabilities well and knows how to get the required performance from him.

However, there are no formal reasons to support this theory, although inviting Horner could indeed attract even more attention to Cadillac F1, which, of course, the new team should be interested in.
