Vettel was alarmed by the problem of Baltic dolphins.
It has long been known that Sebastian Vettel is concerned about environmental issues and genuinely worries about the crises affecting the natural world around us.
Yesterday the four-time world champion visited the Ozeaneum, which is among the three largest oceanariums in Europe. It is located in the city of Stralsund on the Baltic coast, where local biologists told Vettel about the alarming situation of the Baltic blunt‑snouted dolphins, as this species has been pushed to the brink of extinction.
"I believe that we will still be able to enjoy the beautiful natural diversity in the future," Sebastian shared after the meeting. "It would be a great shame if it were to diminish, especially when you think of future generations.
Today I learned a lot about these dolphins, and I had the opportunity to speak with scientists from the Ozeaneum in Stralsund who are doing everything they can to protect the Baltic Sea and the dolphins that live in it.
I was struck by how little we know about these animals, which are quietly disappearing from the Baltic. These dolphins are incredibly sensitive creatures; they are part of our world, our nature, our history. And it will be a huge loss if the day comes when we have to admit that they are gone."
