Wolff: Under this regulation we were not successful.

      Having won the Constructors' Championship eight times from 2014 to 2021, Mercedes have been unable to find the right approach to the ground-effect car, facing a number of conceptual problems. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff admitted that they have still not managed to get to grips with the regulations.

      Toto Wolff: "Under the current regulations we have never been successful. From the very beginning. We started this era very poorly, and then couldn't recover – it's always difficult to catch up with strong rivals. But there have also been bright moments. You remember how great we were last year at Silverstone, where Lewis won the British Grand Prix, how we dominated in Spa and Las Vegas. There have been wonderful moments this year too, especially in Montreal. Sometimes the car allows us to fight for victory. And now we want the races after the summer break to be ones we'll look back on with pleasure as well."
