Gasly: For Flavio, there are no limits to what is possible.

Pierre Gasly believes in the current leadership of Alpine F1, above all in Flavio Briatore’s ability to bring the team back to the higher level it once enjoyed.

Next month Steve Nielsen, a very experienced professional, will start work in Enstone; he will take the position of managing director and will work with Dave Greenwood, the racing director, and the team will continue preparing for 2026, when it will receive Mercedes power units for the first time.

But they will handle operational matters, while strategy is Briatore’s responsibility.

“I must say the press probably knows more about him than I do, since we only met last year when he joined the team,” Pierre told RacingNews365. “It takes time to get to know each other and build mutual understanding, and at the very beginning it was important to focus all our attention on work at the track. The longer we worked together, the stronger our relationship became. He invited me onto his yacht, and I spent some time with him. It was useful to learn his approaches to things, to understand his vision, and what exactly he wants from the team.

Flavio is a very successful businessman; he has huge experience both in Formula 1 and beyond. He is a real leader.

Ultimately, that is what I need. I want to win; I don’t just want to take part in Formula 1 — I want to fight for victories. I want to be involved in the team’s development so that it can give me a car capable of winning.

Of course many teams strive for the same, but the reality is that they remain in the midfield. And for Flavio there are no limits to what is possible; nothing can stop him. He is truly determined, loyal to our team and wants to bring it back to the very top, because he has managed to do that before…

I have an excellent relationship with Flavio and with the whole team leadership, I can clearly see their mindset, I see that changes are already happening. If nothing were changing, that would worry me, because it’s clear we are not doing well right now, but Alpine employs many wonderful people, and the team’s staff is being strengthened by new key specialists…

We will change our engine supplier, and we still have to adapt to that, but preparations for next year are going fine, and we know that. For now I’m just trying to see out the rest of this season, keep my motivation, and understand that every time I get behind the wheel I have to do the tasks in front of me as well as possible…”
