Steiner explained why he bought a MotoGP team.
Last week it emerged that former Haas Formula 1 team boss Guenther Steiner had acquired the Tech3 team competing in MotoGP. Under the terms of the deal, Steiner will take the position of CEO in 2026, and his business partner Ricard Coleman will become the team principal.
In a recent interview, Steiner explained why he decided to continue his career in MotoGP instead of returning to Formula 1.
"Why didn't I take on another project in Formula 1? I've always been interested in MotoGP, but I've never had the time for that series," Guenther Steiner said. "I spent many years in Formula 1, and I believe that at this stage that's enough. I've always wanted to try something new, and I've always loved challenges. At one point I moved to the United States while still in Formula 1 to found a team in NASCAR.
"Formula 1 is a fantastic series, but it's not the only thing you can do in motorsport. As I said, I like challenges, I like trying new things in life. When we first started thinking about MotoGP, I asked myself, 'Can we do this?' And we did."
