Drivers with well-known names stood out at Goodwood.

These days the traditional autumn racing festival Goodwood Revival is taking place in the UK, dedicated to the history of world motorsport, and people we know well are showing great results.

Yesterday Jenson Button won the qualifying in a Jaguar C-Type, and then together with Alex Buncombe, his long-time friend and teammate, took first place in the Freddie March Cup race. That race featured sports cars from 1952–1955.

Importantly, this is the 2009 world champion’s first such achievement in all his appearances at Goodwood Revival, where he made his debut in 2021.

“Alex and I won in the Jaguar C-Type, taking the Freddie March Cup, and the race was truly challenging,” Jenson commented on social media. “What makes it special for us is that this is a unique car with an amazing history!”

The thing is, that Jaguar C-Type once belonged to Juan Manuel Fangio.

And tonight another driver with a well-known name distinguished himself: Alex Brundle won at the wheel of a Lola-Chevrolet T70 Spider. The son of the former Formula 1 driver and popular Sky Sports commentator was the first to cross the line in the Whitsun Trophy, the annual race for drivers of sports cars built in the 1960s.

For Brundle junior this was also his first victory at Goodwood Revival. By the way, he is following in his father’s footsteps off the track as well: Alex has for several years done an excellent job commentating races in the junior F3 and F2 series.

Meanwhile the festival continues, and there are still many other equally interesting events on the program.
