Pirelli has been actively collecting data for the forthcoming technical era of Formula 1 by simulating active-aero systems during recent tire tests conducted in Hungary and Italy. Pirelli F1 head Mario Isola informed Italy’s Formula Passion that the modified cars utilized in these sessions provided "extremely useful" insights for both tire development and comprehending the 2026 regulations. "We were able to assess the effects of a modified aero balance, which is a vital aspect of the new regulation," he stated. "What was intriguing for us was the ability to compare a car equipped with rear-only DRS against a version featuring DRS at the front as well. This enabled us to make comparisons with earlier tests." Isola elaborated that Pirelli is especially concentrated on how the anticipated higher top speeds will influence tire loads. "Ultimately, it’s about achieving the right balance—if a car is extremely fast but places excessive pressure on the tires, it will face significant challenges," he remarked.
