Adam Baker, the former CEO of Audi Formula Racing who ended his collaboration with the German company in May, is joining Cadillac F1. The British publication Motorsport Magazin reports that he will take the position of Chief Operating Officer of the new team's powertrain division.
Cadillac F1, the factory team of the American conglomerate General Motors, will debut in the World Championship next year and will use Ferrari engines for its first three seasons. But work is already underway on its own engine-building project, and production of power units is expected to begin in about three years.
A factory to produce Formula 1 racing engines is already being built in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Adam Baker will become one of the heads of this division.
He previously worked at the FIA as Director of Safety, and was then invited to Audi Sport when the German company was still preparing to enter Formula 1. It was Baker who handled the organization of its engine division in Neuburg, Germany, but he left the company by mutual consent.
