      "Living in a consumer society"

Esteban Ocon has entered the discussion regarding Liberty Media's initiative to enhance Formula 1 with additional sprints, shorter races, and even reverse grids. The 29-year-old Haas driver expressed his belief that the sport is nearing saturation. "I think we live in a consumer society where we increasingly desire more entertainment. We want more races," he stated.

However, he contends that while increased action might be advantageous economically, there are drawbacks as well. "When I was younger, I eagerly anticipated the next race, as there could be quite a gap between them," the Frenchman reminisced. "It was a true highlight of my week. Now, we compete almost every week, including sprints."

Ocon mentioned that while more races might enhance viewing figures, they do not bring benefits to the drivers. "I don't have an issue with racing more frequently, in itself, but I prefer to create some anticipation for the grand prix, as that's when you truly enjoy it," he clarified.

Regarding ideas such as reverse grids, the Frenchman was straightforward. "It would make Formula 1 too artificial," he asserted. "It should retain its essence as a pure form of racing – the fastest team must win, and the strongest team should emerge victorious. A reverse grid may be more flamboyant, but it would be overly artificial."
