Lando Norris has expressed his admiration for Max Verstappen’s successful debut in GT3 racing at the Nurburgring, but he suggested that his rival has the opportunity to do so because he is no longer vying for the Formula 1 title. Verstappen captivated fans last weekend by clinching his first Nurburgring Endurance Series victory in a Ferrari 296 GT3. When asked if he might also participate in races outside of F1, Norris from McLaren admitted he would "love to," especially highlighting Le Mans. “I won’t be in Formula 1 forever,” the McLaren driver, who is 44 points ahead of third-placed Verstappen in the drivers’ standings, reportedly told TZ. "I want to explore other opportunities and experiences," the Briton continued. He already has experience in sports car racing, having participated in Daytona in 2018 alongside Fernando Alonso. However, Norris ruled out the possibility of juggling F1 with endurance racing for the time being. "I plan to enjoy my time in Formula 1," he stated. "I’m not sure if there will be a mix in the future where I also compete in other races, or perhaps when I retire from Formula 1, I’ll explore new avenues." Nevertheless, Norris couldn’t help but compare himself to Verstappen, who remains in the hunt for a fifth consecutive drivers’ title after winning from pole position at both Monza and Baku. "I respect Max for doing things like that, but he’s in a much more favorable position to do so," he remarked. "If he were competing for a championship while engaging in those activities, it might not come off as well. It’s a somewhat easier situation than what Oscar and I are currently facing."
