Palmer: Ferrari's problem isn't the car.

Former driver and F1 TV pundit Jolyon Palmer believes that Ferrari's failures this season are due not to a lack of a fast car but to the team's work...

Jolyon Palmer: "I still believe that Ferrari currently have a better car than Mercedes, but the quality of their work over the course of a weekend leaves much to be desired.

At Monza everything was more or less fine, they finished roughly where they deserved, just outside the podium. But in Baku Hamilton, on worn soft tyres, tried to pass a rival in the second part of qualifying, and Leclerc crashed into the barrier in the third, and they ended up only 10th and 12th on the grid. That is very far from the results the car should have allowed. To some extent that characterises Ferrari's whole current season.

Up next is Singapore, where in theory Ferrari should beat Mercedes, but I looked at last year's results and saw Ferrari drivers in ninth and tenth. Carlos Sainz had an accident, and Charles Leclerc didn't set a good time because he ran off the track at Turn 2. These are the usual results for Ferrari at a circuit where they ought to be quick.

How many times have they lost points in races where they should have at least finished in the top five? Slower tracks suit them more than Mercedes, but they need to turn that advantage into results."
