Having not avoided problems and red flags on Friday, the teams continued preparations for the weekend’s main events on Saturday morning.

The third practice — not the most informative in Singapore — is held during the day when it’s hot and the tyres behave differently than in the evening, but still the drivers were able to complete another ten or so laps before qualifying — the key session of the weekend.

The drivers began the session with long runs on Medium. Verstappen and the Mercedes drivers missed the first ten minutes of the session.

There were incidents again. Colapinto went into the run-off area; on the 15th minute red flags were shown — Lawson’s car was unsettled by the kerb and he crashed into the barrier at Turn 7.

Liam climbed out of the cockpit by himself and was taken to the medical centre — the dangerous g-force sensor had triggered. After checks he was released. This is Liam’s second crash of the weekend.

After the pause the drivers went back out, continuing runs on Medium and later switching to Soft, gradually increasing their pace.

The timesheets were topped by Max Verstappen, who set the best lap in 1:30.148. The top five were covered by nine hundredths — qualifying will be interesting!
