Verstappen will lose his chief mechanic to Audi.
"He is set to finish the season with RBR."
Max Verstappen will have a new chief mechanic at Red Bull for the upcoming season. Well-informed Dutch journalist Erik van Haren from De Telegraaf states that "multiple sources" have confirmed this information, indicating that Matt Caller will depart from the team at the conclusion of 2025. "Max Verstappen will have a different chief mechanic at Red Bull next season," van Haren noted, further mentioning that Caller is transitioning to Audi for its 2026 Formula 1 entry. This transition occurs under the guidance of former Red Bull sporting director Jonathan Wheatley, who is now the team principal of the Sauber-Audi project. "The plan is for him to finish the season with RBR. Interestingly, Caller’s twin brother Jon is the chief mechanic for (Yuki) Tsunoda’s car," van Haren added. De Telegraaf also highlighted that Caller is not the first Red Bull team member to switch, as several mechanics made the move to Sauber last year. Caller has been Verstappen’s chief mechanic since early 2024.
