Red Bull promise to continue fighting for the title.
By finishing second in Singapore, Max Verstappen reduced his deficit to Oscar Piastri in the drivers' championship to 63 points with six rounds remaining in the season. Red Bull Racing team principal Laurent Mekies indicated that the team has not given up on fighting for the title and will continue to bring car updates.
On the lap back to the pits after the finish, Mekies told Max over the radio: "We've taken a step forward and know we can do more in the future, so a good performance."
Speaking to the press, Laurent Mekies expanded on the subject: "It means a lot to us that we were able to fight for victory at this circuit, which is very different from Monza and Baku. Before coming to Singapore we didn't know if that would be possible.
However, already on Friday we were able to find pace and then confirm it in qualifying. The gap to pole could have been minimal, and in the race Max showed good pace. At the finish he lost a few seconds to George Russell, which is good news because it means we were able to extract speed from the car not only at low-downforce circuits.
The team will not change its approach to work. We will continue to work race by race and keep learning. The entire team at the Milton Keynes base is working flat out to unlock the car's potential, and the progress over the past few weeks has been impressive.
Thanks to everyone who never gives up. And thanks to Max, who constantly pushes us to find new ways. In the end we found a way to get more speed from the car. There is no magic solution — we simply kept bringing updates and changed our approach to working with the car."
