Reports indicate that Piastri's 'inner circle' has had a meeting with McLaren.
"McLaren’s issues are set to intensify"
Relations within the McLaren team seem to be reaching a breaking point following the intense confrontation between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in Singapore. According to Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald, Piastri's close associates, led by manager Mark Webber, have met with senior McLaren officials to "clear the air," but those discussions reportedly did not alleviate the increasing tension between the two title contenders. "Piastri’s inner circle met with McLaren to clear the air," the report stated. "It didn’t work."
German analyst and former F1 driver Christian Danner commented to Motorsport-Magazin that Norris’s aggressive behavior in Singapore represents a change. "He had a conversation, or maybe a pill, I’m not sure - then suddenly there was a wild, fierce Lando at the start, as if there was no tomorrow," Danner noted. "If you look at his verbal aggression, it seems as though he has undergone a personality change."
Ziggo Sport commentator Olav Mol believes the situation has not been managed well. "McLaren is making far too many excuses," the Dutch commentator stated. "Piastri should have kept quiet after the stewards decided not to take action," he said, referring to the Australian's complaint about the contact on lap 1. "Now that the constructors’ championship is secured, both Norris and Piastri are thinking, 'Okay, now it’s all about me.' McLaren’s problems are going to increase."
Mathias Lauda, son of F1 legend Niki, advised Max Verstappen to stay focused on his own performance amidst McLaren’s ongoing turmoil. "Max should concentrate primarily on himself and hope that McLaren makes a few more mistakes," he remarked on Servus TV.
