Apple has acquired the rights to broadcast Formula 1 in the United States.
We reported that Apple was in talks with Formula 1 to buy broadcasting rights. Today this has been officially confirmed — starting in 2026 a five-year contract will take effect, under which Apple will receive exclusive rights to broadcast Formula 1 in the United States.
Starting in 2026 all practice sessions, qualifying sessions, sprints and races will be available live on the Apple TV app by subscription. However, select races and all practice sessions will be available on Apple TV for free.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1: “This is an incredibly exciting partnership for both Formula 1 and Apple that will allow us to continue to unlock growth potential in the U.S. through innovative distribution channels.
We share a vision — to introduce U.S. audiences to our amazing sport and attract new fans through live broadcasts and engaging content that will keep them at the centre of the action.
I thank Tim Cook [Apple’s Chief Executive Officer], Eddy Cue [Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services] and the whole Apple team for their vision, enthusiasm and passion for this partnership. We look forward to the next five years of working together.”
