Sainz states that Perez has 'earned' a unique opportunity for a second chance in F1.

"Only a select few who have truly made an impact"

Carlos Sainz expresses that Sergio Perez is entirely deserving of his Formula 1 return with Cadillac, labeling the Mexican as one of the few drivers who have genuinely earned a second opportunity in the sport. In an interview with El Heraldo de Mexico, the Williams driver commended Perez's tenacity following the confirmation of his contract with the new American team, set to join the grid next season. "Checo has consistently demonstrated his talent and strength—as a driver and athlete—throughout his entire Formula 1 journey," Sainz remarked. "Now, he’s gearing up for a second, distinct chapter, which is incredibly motivating for him." He emphasized that such comebacks are uncommon in contemporary Formula 1. "Only a handful of drivers receive a second opportunity, and it’s only those who have truly made their impact—like Ricciardo, Hulkenberg, and Checo," Sainz noted. He also mentioned that Cadillac’s entry will further enhance the competition's intensity on the grid. "With two additional cars on the track and another team comprising over 500 employees, this will pose a challenge for everyone," he stated.
