Stallard: Our drivers are not trying to withhold information.

In all of the autumn races Oscar Piastri performed worse than Lando Norris, although after the first 15 rounds of the season his advantage over his teammate exceeded 30 points. But after the Mexican Grand Prix the British McLaren driver moved ahead and became the new leader of the drivers' standings, although he leads Piastri by only one scoring point.

In any case, this means that in the final stage of the championship the fight for the title will become as intense as possible, especially since Max Verstappen has once again re-entered the fray.

Numerous experts are debating why Piastri has lost ground, and we have already cited some opinions, but Oscar himself also admits that he has found himself in a difficult position.

"It's a bit strange that I even had to rack my brain about this, because I've been driving exactly the same all year. But it turns out that at several earlier rounds of the season the car, the tires, or something else required a significantly different approach. It was hard for me to realise," he said after the finish at the Mexican Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. There he finished 5th, while Norris won the race.

According to Piastri, in Mexico he already tried to drive slightly differently and now, together with the team, must analyze all the available information to determine whether that approach was more effective.

Meanwhile Tom Stallard, Oscar's race engineer, appearing on the championship's official website podcast, assured that the McLaren drivers fully share all available data.

"All data is available to the specialists working with both McLaren cars," Stallard said. "Actually, within the race-engineering group there are excellent working relationships that foster effective cooperation, and the same applies to the whole team. That says a lot — about how we use this data to become faster. Although we apply some information during practice, I've never seen any driver try to hide anything from his teammate — nothing like that has happened.

"In reality we use all of this data so the team can reach a higher level. Both drivers understand that quite well, although they are trying to beat each other. And Oscar wants to beat Lando, who is currently at the peak of his form."

One more Piastri line: "I hope this will help to make some progress."

This is exactly what his fans expect from the Australian.
