Norris: As you gain experience, you try to adjust your approaches.
This week Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were working at McLaren's base in Woking, where they met the whole staff, and on Friday they also took part in an open day that was attended not only by team employees but also by their family members and friends.
Of course, they found time to speak with the team's press office and answer a couple of questions. In particular, they were asked whether they have to adapt in any special way to the tasks facing them this season, now that, for the first time, they have a real chance to fight for the title.
Oscar Piastri: "I'd say that, for the most part, it's still the same. If you think back to the trajectory we were on in 2024 and the progress we made since the start of that season, we anticipated that if we could start this championship the way we finished the previous one, we'd have a pretty good chance of winning both titles, not just the Constructors' Championship.
"In that respect the situation is different, because under such a scenario we face more serious challenges, but the way to achieve the goals remains the same — you just have to make every possible effort and give it your all."
Lando Norris: "Each year you become more experienced, learn more, and on that basis you always try to tweak your approaches a little. But ultimately it's pretty simple: every weekend we try to score as many points as possible.
"What is good for you usually benefits the whole team, and what is good for the team is good for you. Our leaders, Zak Brown and Andrea Stella, have a lot of experience working with different people. They can look at situations from different perspectives — not only because they have different roles within the team, but also because they have different life experiences.
"There are always topics to discuss, there's always an opportunity to learn something new or adopt new approaches. Zak and Andrea set a good example for the entire team, including how to work together and how to build cohesion. There's always something to learn from them."
