Leclerc: In 2026 we'll set ourselves a higher goal.

At the FIA press conference in São Paulo, Charles Leclerc was asked to what extent Ferrari would be satisfied with the season's results if it managed to stay ahead of Mercedes and, as a year ago, finish the championship in 2nd place in the Constructors' Championship.

Charles Leclerc: "No, that would not be enough, because when you race for a team like this, only victory can be considered a sufficiently good result. But you also have to admit that we have to face very strong opponents, and some teams also have a very rich historical heritage in Formula 1, so we have difficult tasks ahead.

I believe Ferrari should aim only for wins, but if you take into account how we started the championship and the level we have reached now, the season is going quite well. At the beginning of the year we had very big problems; we did not immediately find the right approach to the new car, but now we continue to fight for 2nd place in the Constructors' Championship — that should be our goal. Naturally, next year we will set ourselves a higher target."

Charles was somewhat put on the spot by the question of what he would prefer, if he had the chance to choose: to score at least one victory himself this season, or for the Scuderia to take 2nd place in the team standings?

"I don't know what I would prefer — I would choose both!" Leclerc replied. "I think if I can win a race, that will, of course, increase the likelihood that the team will finish 2nd. It's hard to answer such a question, but I would very much like to take at least one victory this season, because it has been so hard for all of us. Although second place is unlikely to make us that happy, nevertheless that should be our goal."
