Verstappen only regrets the incident in Barcelona.
Analyzing the course of the 2025 season in an interview with Viaplay, Max Verstappen regretted the incident in Barcelona, when at the end of the race he deliberately collided with George Russell, receiving a 10-second penalty that dropped him to tenth place.
Max Verstappen: "The only moment I regret is, of course, Barcelona. The maneuver itself — and the whole incident — were not the best, but at that moment I was on edge. I could have told myself, 'The car isn't working anyway,' and calmed down, but I can't get out of the car knowing I hadn't given 100%, and I get angry at myself in those situations; I can't drive at 80%.
After a race I always need to be able to tell myself, 'I did everything I could.' That's why I was so angry in Barcelona — first because of what happened on the straight at the restart, then in the first corner, and, of course, when they told me to give the position back. At that point I had lost control of myself — emotions took over.
It was my mistake, and of course I've learned from it. Next year there won't be moments like that, even in a similar situation. Otherwise, in terms of results, the season was good.
Each season you look back and ask yourself, 'Where did I miss something?' or 'Where could I have performed better?' But with the car I had, I think I made the most of all the opportunities over the course of the season. That's a positive. It's sometimes hard to judge from the outside, but based on the car's competitiveness, I'm happy with my season."
