Oscar Piastri's new helmet is dedicated to his first success.
Oscar Piastri’s first significant sporting achievement was winning the Australian championship in radio-controlled car racing — he won that title in 2010, when he was nine years old.
The McLaren driver has just been reminded of it, and the helmet he will race in Las Vegas is painted in the same color scheme as that championship car.
“I present to you my new helmet, but don’t worry, there won’t be a little car on it!” Oscar commented cheerfully. “However, the helmet is dedicated to it, because that was the paintwork on the body of the car with which I won the Australian national championship in 2010.
Why will I race in that helmet in Vegas? Because it will be exactly 15 years since that weekend. It brings back special memories for me, as that was my first success, and the helmet is designed in honor of that event. I hope you like it. It looks quite original, but I think it’s really cool!”
