Fernando Alonso (7th): “A couple of hours ago we couldn't even have dreamed of seventh place, but in the end it was fun. I thought we were in for a very long evening with lots of red flags, but everything went to plan, and I qualified seventh, which I'm very happy with.
The team did a great job, we went out on the right tyres and made the most of the session. Today's damp conditions helped us achieve more — let's see what happens tomorrow.”
Lance Stroll (12th): “We were leading in the first session and at the start of the second, and then we made a collective decision to switch to intermediate tyres. We thought it would be dry enough and took the risk, but that was a mistake.
We planned for me to do three quick laps, but in the end I could only do two and missed the chance to improve. It's a shame — today we could have been fighting for a strong result.”

Carlos Sainz posted the third-fastest time in the wet qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Williams driver said the team adjusted the car's setup after the third practice session, which allowed him to fight at the front.
