In Madrid they were quick to deny the rumours.

The Spanish press reacted to recent reports that construction of the MadRing racetrack is significantly behind schedule, and serious doubts have already emerged that the circuit will be ready to host the national round of the world championship, scheduled for the second weekend of September 2026.

The popular sports tabloid Marca, published in Madrid, quotes officials from the city hall of the Spanish capital, who were quick to deny all the rumours.

In particular, it quotes Miguel García, an adviser to the Madrid government, who assured that work at the site is proceeding according to schedule without any significant delays, and that each successive stage of the project is being completed on time.

At the same time, sources well informed about the actual situation on the construction site told journalists that difficulties related to adverse weather conditions may occur during the winter months, but so far everything is going relatively smoothly.

“Residents of Madrid can rest easy, construction is progressing at a decent pace,” García said. “Everything is going according to plan, and our city will host a Formula 1 race again for the first time in 45 years.”

Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida also offered his comments at a press conference held yesterday right in the corridors of the city administration building:

“I don't know where such news came from. The construction of the racetrack is ahead of schedule and progressing at a perfect pace. And Madrid will definitely host the Grand Prix despite the doubts voiced by some people. And it will be one of the best Formula 1 races, if not the best.”
