Alonso: The result exceeded our expectations

      Fernando Alonso finished seventh in Sunday's race and is happy with the weekend's results, which allowed Aston Martin to overtake Haas F1 in the Constructors' Championship...

      Fernando Alonso (7th): "Two points yesterday and six today exceeded our expectations for this weekend. After the early safety car deployment we, like our rivals, stuck to a two-stop strategy.

      The car lacked the pace to attack, but we were a bit lucky with the DRS train and the fact that it's hard to overtake here – that helped us hold position. I was also a bit lucky with the spin – on another circuit I would almost certainly have ended up in the gravel after that. The points we scored are very important for the team's fight in the Constructors' Championship, which we will continue in Abu Dhabi."

      Lance Stroll (17th): "Today I started 18th and finished 17th. Gaining positions on this track has always been difficult, so today we took a risk with strategy hoping for a second safety car deployment, but that didn't happen.

      I hope we'll be more competitive next week in Abu Dhabi."
