Jonathan Wheatley has stepped down as the head of the Audi team.
Audi has officially confirmed the departure of Jonathan Wheatley from the position of team principal – the decision has already taken effect.
In the team's statement, it was mentioned that Wheatley left Audi for "personal reasons." Audi thanked the British specialist for his contribution to the project and wished him all the best for the future.
Mattia Binotto, who will lead the Audi project in Formula 1 starting in 2024, has additionally taken on the responsibilities of team principal. The future structure of the team's leadership will be determined later. For now, Audi's goal remains unchanged – to continue progressing in order to ultimately compete for titles by 2030.
Jonathan Wheatley is considered the main candidate to replace Adrian Newey as the head of Aston Martin, although the British team denies this. We will keep an eye on further developments.
