Lawrence Stroll's statement on the situation surrounding Newey
A few minutes after Audi's announcement regarding Jonathan Wheatley's departure, who is allegedly vying for the position of team principal at Aston Martin, the press service of the Silverstone team published an official statement from owner Lawrence Stroll regarding the situation surrounding Adrian Newey.
"In light of the current rumors about Adrian Newy's role in our team, I want to take this opportunity to clarify," said Lawrence Stroll's statement. "As executive chairman and controlling shareholder, I want to confirm that Adrian Newy is my partner and an important shareholder. He is also the managing technical partner of Aston Martin Aramco, and we share a true partnership based on a common vision for the company's success.
We operate differently than others. Currently, we do not have a traditional team principal as is customary in other companies, but this is done intentionally.
As the most successful engineer in the history of the sport, Adrian is primarily focused on strategic and technical leadership, in which he excels. He is supported by a highly skilled team of executives ensuring success in all aspects of the business both at the base and on the track.
We are regularly approached by leaders of other teams wishing to join Aston Martin Aramco, but in accordance with our policy, we do not comment on rumors and speculation."
