The president of Ferrari calls for drawing all necessary lessons.
Ferrari President John Elkann also heads the board of directors of the Exor holding company, which controls the economy of the legendary Italian sports car manufacturer. In a letter to the shareholders of the group, Elkann reported on Ferrari's performance, paying attention to the sports programs as well.
First of all, he noted the achievements in endurance racing, as the Ferrari factory team won the WEC in both classifications of the World Championship, but he had to admit that the goals in Formula 1 have not yet been achieved.
"On the sports front, 2025 was simultaneously a year of triumph and lessons that we must learn," Elkann's letter states. "In endurance racing, Ferrari has achieved tremendous success, winning the World Championship in both the manufacturers' classification and the individual classification. We secured another victory at Le Mans, and in Macau, we won the World Cup in the GT3 category.
All these successes were achieved more than half a century after Ferrari's last title in endurance racing – they reflect the incredibly strong spirit of our team, which unites all its employees, from mechanics to engineers and drivers. They all work towards a common goal...
In Formula 1, the picture is different; there we have not been able to achieve our goals. But at Ferrari, we have always understood that in racing, victories are not the only important thing, but also the lessons that need to be learned. Enzo Ferrari, the founder of our company, had a whole collection of broken Ferrari parts, which he called the "museum of mistakes."
It is crucial to adhere to such an approach today: it is about responsibility and the determination to come back stronger."
