Gasly: The race in Suzuka with these cars is an interesting challenge.
Alpine F1 returns to the legendary Suzuka track with a very positive attitude, where the Japanese Grand Prix will take place. In the first two races of the new season, the factory team of the Renault group earned 10 points – this is already almost half of what its drivers managed to achieve throughout the entire last year.
Pierre Gasly: "It's nice to come back after a race where I earned a decent amount of points. From the very beginning of the Chinese weekend, we were in good positions, although, of course, I left Shanghai feeling that with a bit of luck, we could have achieved even more.
Nevertheless, we all learned a lot, and this will help us in the upcoming races. If after a successful weekend we feel some disappointment, it can probably be considered a good sign. I hope that in Japan we can once again demonstrate good form, as this track is one of my favorites on the championship calendar.
I consider Suzuka a special place, as I raced there in the Japanese Super Formula series in 2017. And, as always, in the week leading up to the Grand Prix, I plan to visit Tokyo – I really love this city, I generally like Japanese culture, and the cuisine there is simply incredible.
Racing in Suzuka with this year's cars will be an interesting challenge. I don't think we should expect any specific results on this high-speed track with its organic configuration, but I am ready for any difficulties and hope that we can immediately show a decent pace and perform well in Japan. We will try to add to our points tally before the April break in the championship."
Franco Colapinto: "In Shanghai, I earned the team's first point of the season, and that made me happy. Moreover, during the race, I had several very interesting battles with competitors. However, it's a pity that we couldn't achieve more there, although the car's potential allowed it, but not everything went as we would have liked.
I am impressed by the progress the team has made at the beginning of the season, as there was a noticeable difference even between Melbourne and Shanghai. Last week, I returned to the base in Enstone, spent some time with the team, and worked on the simulator. It's nice to share the joy of the first results with everyone, especially after all the hard work the team has done over the past few months.
We have already demonstrated what we are capable of, and we intend to continue what we started this weekend in Suzuka, where new challenges await us. I will be racing in Japan for the first time in my career; it's an incredibly interesting country, and I can't wait to get to work on this famous track. If the first races of the season allow us to draw any conclusions, it is that we have a challenging job ahead in setting up the car, but I am looking forward to it and ready to build on our initial successes."
Steve Nielsen, Managing Director of Alpine F1: "The team left China in a joyful mood, but still with a bittersweet taste – probably, this hasn't happened for quite some time.
Of course, the result was formally very good, as we earned nine points over the weekend – for the first time since 2024, both cars finished in the points. We should be pleased with the work the team has done in the first two races of the season.
However, there was also some disappointment, as we did not achieve the maximum possible results, especially considering that other teams faced difficulties on race day. Everyone in Enstone embodies a true racing spirit, and last week it was nice to see happy faces at the team's base. At the same time, everyone is determined and intends to achieve higher results.
This is a challenging task, as we know that one successful weekend does not define the season as a whole. Staying competitive, continuing to study the characteristics of our car, and fully unlocking its potential will be difficult, but behind the scenes, there is intense work on technical innovations.
Our competitors are doing the same, and there is no doubt that they will try to improve the efficiency of their cars – which means we need to perform better than they do.
New challenges await us at the Suzuka track, and we are ready for them. To be honest, we don't know what we can achieve, but I am confident that the team is determined to continue the streak of successful performances and is fully committed to adding to our points tally."
