Mercedes modifies front wing following inquiry from Ferrari.
The matter has not progressed into a formal investigation.
Mercedes has reportedly made slight adjustments to its heavily scrutinized front wing design at Suzuka, in response to Ferrari's inquiries regarding its performance in China. Ferrari had sought clarification from the FIA about what it suspected could be a "two-phase" transition in the wing’s functionality, raising doubts about its adherence to the 400-millisecond regulation window's intent. However, the situation has not developed into an official investigation. Instead, it seems that Mercedes has modified the design for this weekend, with reports suggesting that these changes were intended to address reliability issues rather than legality. The updated wing is believed to ensure that the flaps now fully retract within the stipulated timeframe, eliminating any uncertainty about its operation.
