Mercedes adjusts front wing following inquiry from Ferrari.
The matter has not progressed into an official investigation.
Mercedes is said to have made minor tweaks to its widely talked-about front wing design at Suzuka, in response to Ferrari’s inquiries regarding its performance in China. Ferrari had sought clarification from the FIA regarding what it suspected could be a "two-phase" functionality in the wing—raising doubts about its compliance with the 400-millisecond regulation window. Nevertheless, the matter has not grown into a formal investigation. Instead, Mercedes is reported to have modified the design for this weekend, with indications that the changes were made to address reliability issues rather than compliance concerns. The updated wing is believed to now guarantee that the flaps completely retract within the specified timeframe, eliminating any uncertainty about its operation.
