Every time a new era begins in Formula 1, it’s interesting to see how people perform. I am proud of the team, of the work we have done to get closer to the leaders and enter the fight.
From a racing perspective, it’s really fun right now. I enjoyed the long duel with Charles in China – it was one of the most exciting races I can remember. Just like with Nico in Bahrain many years ago. That’s how racing should be. The battle should go back and forth, not just one overtake and it’s all over.
After China, I went to Tokyo, where I trained a lot, running about 100 kilometers. I know that none of the drivers I compete with train as hard as I do, especially at my age. I like that I still have the drive for improvement. I am dedicated to my craft.”
