Pierre Gasly: I view our potential with optimism.

Pierre Gasly scored points in the first two races of the season in Australia and China. On Thursday, ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, the Alpine driver expressed confidence that the team would be able to fight for places in the top ten in Suzuka.

Pierre Gasly: "We are open to any developments this weekend. It's great that we managed to earn points in Australia and China, and it's clear that we showed greater potential in China.

Right now, I am fully focused on what lies ahead. You know, after every lap on the track, we learn something new, and it's clear that there are areas in our current car where we can improve. I hope that in Suzuka we can fight for the same positions as in the first races, even though this track is of a completely different type.

As I said, we still have to figure out some characteristics of the car, and that gives me optimism about our potential. I hope that this weekend the team will take another step forward.

Suzuka differs from the two previous tracks in that it has higher speeds, so both us and the car will face a real challenge, as high-speed tracks haven't suited us very well in the past. But we have a few ideas that will help us maintain our form, so I am excited. We are heading to one of the coolest tracks on the calendar, so the race will be thrilling."
