Aston downplays speculation as discussions about Horner reemerge.

Aston Martin has downplayed rumors connecting Jonathan Wheatley to a possible position with the team amidst broader uncertainty regarding its leadership framework. Following Wheatley’s unexpected exit from Audi, there have been suggestions that he might join Aston Martin, possibly in a capacity that would enable Adrian Newey to reduce his involvement in daily operations and concentrate more on his technical expertise. However, team ambassador Pedro de la Rosa refuted these speculations at Suzuka.

"We shouldn’t comment on rumors and speculation. We also need to respect what Jonathan himself wants to do next," he stated. "Our structure remains unchanged. We’re content with how things are organized. Adrian is our leader, but he is more than just a team leader – he is also our managing technical partner. That won’t change."

"The only certainty is that we have a team principal, which is Adrian Newey, and that is not going to change. We must trust our structure and refrain from altering it again."

Nonetheless, speculation surrounding the position continues, with claims that Christian Horner has discussed a potential return to Formula 1 leadership with Lawrence Stroll. Yet, reports suggest that Newey is not enthusiastic about reuniting with his former Red Bull chief after the challenges of the past two years.

Former driver Ralf Schumacher supported this perspective, questioning whether Horner would be suitable for the team. "You have to be honest," he remarked to Sky Deutschland. "I know Christian Horner won’t appreciate my opinion, but the reality is he has achieved a great deal and has enjoyed immense success, but he has changed somewhat with that success."

"One thing is clear – you don’t hear much positive about him in the paddock." Schumacher cautioned that complications from Horner's potential arrival could be detrimental to a team already facing difficulties on the track. "There is absolutely no room for personal issues there," he added.
