Binotto: We can be satisfied with the result.
Gabriel Bortoleto made it to the final qualifying round in Suzuka, while his Audi teammate Nico Hülkenberg showed the 13th fastest time – the team is pleased with the day's results…
Mattia Binotto, Audi F1 project leader: “So far, the weekend is going well. I am very happy that Gabriel made it to the third round, and I am disappointed that Nico couldn't do the same, even though he had the opportunity. His lap wasn't perfect, but he was very close to making it into the top ten. The gap isn't large, and we can be satisfied with the result.
Tomorrow, it's important to have a good start. Overtaking in Suzuka is difficult, so it's crucial to get everything right. Every race this year is a new experience for us and an opportunity to learn. We will focus on our work and see what we can achieve.”
Gabriel Bortoleto (9th): “I am satisfied with today's qualifying and my car. In the first and second sessions, I was confident in my success and executed my attempts cleanly. Of course, there is still a lot to do to optimize the setup and make progress, but it feels great to start from the top ten and fight for points at the finish.
Tomorrow will be a different day, but I am confident that we will manage. A couple of cars are starting ahead that we can battle with – we will do everything we can.”
Nico Hülkenberg (13th): “It's always challenging to have a clean qualifying session; I didn't perform well enough in my attempts during the second session, so I didn't make it to the final.
The car looked decent; I think we suit each other well. It seems we will be fighting for a spot in the top ten with several other teams, so the race promises to be interesting. It's important to have a good start and try to make up for it.”
