      Fernando Alonso: “The benefit is already that due to the cancellation of the races in Bahrain and Jeddah, we won’t be last in those races. This break won’t allow us to make progress in working with the car – we are already doing everything possible for that every day, but I hope that in a couple of months we will become more competitive.

      Remember, McLaren was last in the first two races in 2023, and by the end of the year, they were fighting with the leaders. That would be the ideal scenario for us. The season is long; if you understand the problems and solve them, you will have enough time to be in a much better position in the second half of the year. That’s what we are working on now.

      The chassis and engine have great potential; since the tests in Bahrain, we have made progress in understanding some handling issues, so we are now in a much better position. We need to eliminate vibrations, solve the energy deficit problem, and a few other fundamental tasks, but we are not resting at all. Our staff is working tirelessly; we just need time.”
