The FIA issued a statement after the meeting on the regulations.

On Thursday, April 9, the first of the meetings involving representatives from the teams, FIA, and Formula 1 took place, during which possible changes to the regulations ahead of the Miami Grand Prix were discussed. During the meeting, the parties agreed that adjustments need to be made to the technical regulations concerning energy management. The discussion will continue at subsequent meetings in April, with a final decision expected to be made on April 20.

Following the first meeting, the FIA issued an official statement: "Today, the FIA held the first in a series of meetings to discuss potential changes to the Formula 1 regulations for 2026. The meeting, which included FIA and technical experts from teams and power unit manufacturers, covered a range of topics within the natural evolution of the technical and sporting regulations for Formula 1 in 2026.

Overall, the parties reached an agreement: despite the fact that the races held so far have been thrilling, there is a need to make adjustments to certain aspects of the regulations in the area of energy management. A constructive dialogue took place on complex issues, especially considering that competing parties were involved. Earlier this year, all parties agreed that this series of meetings would take place after the first three races of the 2026 season. The schedule was arranged to allow for the collection of sufficient technical data before the discussions began.

As part of the series of joint discussions, further meetings are planned over the next two weeks. On April 15, a meeting dedicated to the sporting regulations will take place, during which changes to "Section B" necessary for technical modifications will be discussed. The next technical meeting will be held on April 16, where the issues discussed today will be reviewed and new topics will be addressed.

A high-level meeting is scheduled for April 20, which will involve all interested parties, where it is expected that preferred options jointly proposed by the technical groups will be considered, and a consensus on further actions will be reached. The 2026 regulations were developed and agreed upon in close collaboration with teams, car manufacturers, power unit manufacturers, the holder of commercial rights, and the FIA. It is in this spirit of cooperation that potential changes are being discussed.

Any changes to the regulations are subject to approval by the FIA World Council."
