Perez's father aspires to be the president of Mexico.

"Well, I enjoy being considered crazy."

Sergio Perez’s father has disclosed that he has ambitions that extend beyond motorsport, including aspirations to run for the presidency of Mexico. Antonio Perez Garibay, who is already involved in politics, shared this goal during an interview with Mexican media outlets such as El Siglo de Torreon. "One should never say no, but it is my dream. My dream is to eventually become the president of Mexico, just as I once dreamed my son would be a Formula 1 driver," he stated. The 66-year-old admitted that some may view this aspiration as unrealistic. "When I express my desire to be president of Mexico, people call me crazy. Well, I embrace being crazy; I enjoy pursuing things that others shy away from. I’m the kind of person who does what others don’t dare to do." Perez Garibay currently holds the position of government delegate in Jalisco and has previously served in Mexico’s Congress, as well as having run for both senate and mayoral roles in the past.
