Chandhok: Red Bull needs a loud transfer

Former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sport F1 expert Karun Chandhok spoke in The F1 Show podcast about the "brain drain" at Red Bull Racing…

Karun Chandhok: "Last year, Red Bull won six of the last nine Grands Prix. The car improved significantly and was one of the fastest at the end of the season. But people need more than success on the track.

Now, Laurent Mekies and the Austrian owners face a tough task – to stop the brain drain and make the team attractive to employees. It's worth remembering that strong specialists attract other strong specialists.

How long will it take before Gianpiero Lambiase starts calling other engineers: 'Hey, guys? There's a good place to work here in Woking. How about moving?' And how long after that will it take before the core group of Red Bull engineers starts to break apart?

We've seen this happen many times before. Adrian Newey moved from team to team, taking the best with him. Ross Brawn did the same. I think Red Bull should be concerned about this. They need a big transfer themselves, not just because of the knowledge this person can bring, but also because of the people they can attract."
