Fernando Alonso tested the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM.
In the run-up to the start of the WEC season, Fernando Alonso tested the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, specifically one of the cars from the exclusive LM series that the company unveiled in the summer of 2025.
Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercars compete in endurance racing on both sides of the Atlantic – in WEC and in the American IMSA series – but the LM version, as intended by its creators, is designed solely for owners of such cars to occasionally drive on racetracks during so-called track days and enjoy the true feeling of speed.
On its social media pages, Aston Martin's press service released a series of photos from these tests and a couple of short videos, accompanied by a comment made on behalf of Fernando: “The day went wonderfully, as it’s always nice to remember the years when you drove sports prototypes! This experience was incredibly enjoyable, and the sound is amazing!”
At the time, the Valkyrie was created through the joint efforts of Aston Martin and the technology division of Red Bull Racing under the leadership of Adrian Newey, thus inheriting many features of modern Formula 1 cars.
In Alonso's personal garage, since 2024, there has been a road version of this car, and now he has also tried the even more powerful and faster Valkyrie LM on the move. Whether the two-time world champion is among the list of just ten lucky individuals who have become owners of this exclusive hypercar is not disclosed by the company, but something suggests that he is.
When Fernando Alonso temporarily parted ways with Formula 1 and joined the factory team Toyota competing in WEC, he became the world endurance racing champion in 2019 and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice.
This weekend, two crews from the American Aston Martin THOR Team with race numbers 007 and 009 will take the start of the 6-hour race in Imola, marking the beginning of the WEC season.
