Weber left 'speechless' following Todt's remarks about Schumacher.

Willi Weber has expressed his shock and disappointment following Jean Todt's admission that Michael Schumacher intentionally caused two of the most contentious incidents in his career. The former Ferrari chief recently acknowledged that Schumacher's maneuvers at Jerez in 1997 and Monaco in 2006 were deliberate, marking a significant departure from Ferrari’s previous position.

Weber, who has been Schumacher’s manager for many years, was taken aback by both the timing and the nature of Todt’s remarks. "I’m at a loss for words. Why would he make such a statement, especially considering Michael’s current predicament?" Weber told Kolner Express. Since his life-altering skiing accident in 2013, Schumacher has remained out of the spotlight.

Weber staunchly defended the character of the seven-time world champion. "Anyone who knows Michael understands there was no ill intent behind his actions. It was a challenging but necessary maneuver to secure his position and potentially the title," he stated regarding the 1997 championship finale at Jerez. "We've seen much more aggressive tactics during world championship battles. Just think of Ayrton Senna versus Alain Prost."

He also contended that even the notorious Monaco qualifying incident, in which Schumacher halted his car at Rascasse, leading to yellow flags, was not done on purpose. "Where would we be if a seven-time world champion like Michael was not allowed to make any mistakes?" he remarked.

Weber questioned Todt's intentions in recalling these events after so many years. "That was ages ago and has been analyzed extensively. Is he seeking to exonerate himself retroactively?" he asked. The German revealed that he no longer maintains contact with his former Ferrari associate. "I haven’t been in touch with Jean anymore; I ended that relationship after the accident because it would only serve as a reminder of Michael’s tragic fate. New issues keep arising for me as well, causing more grief."
